We’re opting out of Black Friday.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the kind of company I want Fanm Djanm to be. We’ve always made things differently. Small batches. Local makers. Thoughtful production. Beautiful things created for bold women to wear over and over again.

But over the last few years, I found myself trying to keep up with companies that operate completely differently from us. Bigger teams. Bigger budgets. Monthly promotions. Constant sales. And then the craziness of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

I don’t want to do that anymore.

I don’t want to create more graphics, more videos, more emails, and more urgency simply because the retail calendar says we should. So this year, Fanm Djanm is opting out of Black Friday.

We’re a small, self-funded company, and I want the way we sell our products to reflect the same values we put into making them.

That doesn’t mean sales are disappearing. I know many of you wait for them, and I appreciate every single order.

So we’re doing one last BIG sale this year.

Consider this your heads-up. If there’s something you’ve been eyeing, this will be the time.

After that, we’ll have a few special things planned for the holidays, but instead of chasing Black Friday, we’re going to put some of that energy toward giving back to causes we care about.
