What is Route Protection and why should I add this to my order?
Route Protection is a great new addition to the Fanm Djanm checkout process, to help our customers once their orders have been shipped. Route makes the shipping process easier by guaranteeing your order arrives safely to their destination or you have the option of getting a refund or the missing items resent to you if in stock. Why worry when you can have your order tracked and safe with Route Protection, gaining access to your order through their app, through text, or with a quick email update. Route Protection costs $2.15 cents if the order is $100 or less and then anything above $100 is 2% of the cart value. By opting out of the Route Protection shipping option at checkout, Fanm Djanm is not liable for lost, damaged, or stolen packages during transit.
I never received my package, can you help?
We ask that you wait 30 days before filing a lost package claim with UPS. We can assist you with the filing of the claim after the 30 day period, simply send an email with the order number to firstname.lastname@example.org.
When do you ship? If I order today, when will I receive my products?
We process orders Monday -Sunday, 10am - 4:00pm. If you place an order after this time, we cannot guarantee it will ship out the same day as the order was received. Need your order soon? We offer speedier delivery options for those looking to get their orders within 2 - 3 days, just select Priority or Next Day shipping at checkout.
Do you ship internationally? Do you ship to the UK?
For the United Kingdom and customers from countries like Canada, France, Germany, Australia, Netherlands, and Switzerland we offer two DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) options- UPS Worldwide Expedited and DHL Express Worldwide. With these two options the customer takes full responsibility for all risks and fees of shipping goods until they reach their destination and will need to be in contact with the specific carrier for any additional information once the package is picked up from our Headquarters. Fanm Djanm is not responsible for lost or delayed packages
ALL International customers have the following shipping options available:
UPS Expedited Duties & Taxes Included, UPS Saver Duties & Taxes Included, UPS Standard Duties & Taxes Included, or DHL Express Worldwide Duties & Taxes Included, there will be no additional charges after the purchase of your items, landed cost includes the duties and taxes and Fanm Djanm would be happy to assist you if there are any issues with finding more information on your package.
Fanm Djanm will not provide a refund or return in order to help our carbon footprint as a small business.
Do I have to pay import fees and taxes?
If you live outside of the USA and US territories, you are responsible for customs/imports duties & taxes.
Duty and taxes are already included in the following rates: UPS Expedited Duties & Taxes Included, UPS Saver Duties & Taxes Included, UPS Standard Duties & Taxes Included, or DHL Express Worldwide Duties & Taxes Included. If you select those rates, you will not have to pay additional fees. Duties & Taxes are paid by the customer when entering destination country. If you refuse to pay these charges and your parcel is returned to sender, all shipping costs will be deducted prior to any refund being issued.
Fanm Djanm is legally required to declare the full value paid on shipments and must include an invoice for customs should they require it.
Where is my international order?
Please note that International orders can take up to a few weeks depending on your country's customs policies and procedures.. Depending on your location, the carrier may not keep the tracking information updated. It is the customer's responsibility to check with their local carrier offices to see if their items have arrived to any country outside of the United States. If an item is returned to us because it is unclaimed, the buyer assumes responsibility for return shipping costs, which will be subtracted from any refund owed.
Where is my order confirmation email? Where is my shipping confirmation?
Yet to receive an order confirmation? Order confirmation emails are sent automatically at the time of checkout. We ask that you check your promotions and spam folders before requesting we resend confirmation. If you find you have not received an order or shipping confirmation, email us with your name as it appears on your order invoice to request we resend the confirmation email.
Can I change my order?
Changed your mind? You can change your order anytime before receiving a shipping confirmation email. Orders adding additional items may incur larger shipping weights subject to increased shipping fees. We recommend you keep an eye on your email when making an order adjustment to receive notification of any outstanding payments or refunds.
I need to cancel my order.
No worries! Orders can be canceled anytime before receiving a shipping confirmation email. After shipping confirmation? Reach out to us at email@example.com and we will initiate a return. Customers initiating a return are responsible for shipping fees. Please refer to returns for more details.
Why does my order look different from the photo on the website?
In accordance with our zero-waste ethos, all Fanm Djanm djanmdannsa, masks, double-sided, and twisted headbands are made using scrap materials from our headwrap production. Items include a note detailing their possible variance in the product description on our website.

Do you charge sales tax?
Sales tax is calculated at the time of checkout and depends on where you live and the items purchased.
RETURNS AND REFUNDS
How do I return a gift?
Did you receive a gift? Already own it? Simply send us an email to initiate a return, be sure to include that the order was received as a gift. If you know the order number or name of the original purchaser, please include these details in your return request. Once received, we will send you an email outlining the return process. Upon receipt of the return, we will issue a gift card in the amount of the gift.

I didn’t like my product, can I return it?
To initiate a return, send us an email stating why you are requesting a return or refund. Be sure to include your name, order number, and if returning due to receiving a defective item, a photo. All returns must be unworn, unwashed, and in original packaging. Returns must be initiated and completed within 30 days. If your return does not meet this criteria, it will not be accepted.
Customers are responsible for the cost of their return. You can choose to either ship the product yourself, using your preferred service, or request a shipping label. If requesting a shipping label, you will receive an invoice for the cost. Once we receive payment, we will issue a return label to affix to the package of your return
We ask that you send us an email with tracking information so we can ensure the arrival of your return. Upon receipt of your return, we will issue a refund.
If making an exchange, simply tell us the product you wish to exchange your item for and we will ship it once we receive your return. You may accrue additional fees if the item cost more than your previous purchase.
All returns are processed within 24 - 72 hours. Customers requesting a return will receive notification upon its completion. Refunds will be processed immediately and should post to accounts within 2-3 business days, depending on payment method.

Do you offer gift cards?
Absolutely! Our e-gift cards can be purchased for $10, $25, 50, $100, $150, or $200. Your selected payment method will be charged at the time of checkout. All gift cards are final sale and non-refundable. Gift cards can be used as a payment method by applying the code associated with the card at the time of checkout.

We are a locally-made sustainable company committed to zero waste production, meaning our products are made in small batches to ensure less waste, as is often found in the fashion industry.

How can pick-up my items from your Austin storefront?
Are you an Austin local? Just passing through? Stop by our store during regular shopping hours by selecting LOCAL PICKUP at the time of checkout. You will be notified via email when your order is ready for pick up. Items selected for Local Pickup will be held for a maximum of 2 weeks. .

What materials do you use to ship your products?
Taking our responsibility to the environment as seriously as our commitment to our customers, Fanm Djanm has transitioned to eco-friendly packaging. All orders are wrapped in recycled closed seal bags and shipped in recycled poly-mailers. Jewelry and pins are wrapped in a biodegradable alternative to bubble wrap. Learn more here
Why are your products so expensive?
From our headwraps to our bandanas to our jewelry, the costs of our products reflect the craftsmanship invested in each piece. While other companies subsidize their cost by outsourcing to a manufacturer, all of our hair accessories are locally made, in small batches, at a fair wage.

WHO CAN WEAR FANM DJANM
I am not a woman of color, can I wear a headwrap?
AH! The appropriation versus appreciation debate! Thank you for checking in on such a sensitive topic. We make headwraps for everyone. Worldwide, tying a piece of cloth around your head isn’t specific to any cultural group. However, since Fanm Djanm is black owned and presents carefully curated images around black womanhood, it is easy to think that’s our sole audience. Take into consideration the following.
In the historical context, black hair is not just hair. The policing of black hair pre-dates the Tignon Laws of 1786, which enforced knotted head coverings and banned embellishments on the heads of Black and mixed race women outside the home, and extends into the present day as it was only in 2014 the United States military included cornrows and braids within their list of acceptable hairstyles while on duty. These examples highlight hair is shrouded in personal, political, and social nuances that make people of color protective of its imagery.
Head coverings, thereby, carry in the same vein due to proximity - think du-rags, stocking caps, headwraps etc. They are just as personally, politically, and socially steeped in nuance. That being said, we would suggest researching different wrapping styles to ensure they do not hold cultural significance. For example, Nigerian women wear 'geles,' a traditional headwrap for specific + special occasions - wearing a headwrap tied in this style if not Nigerian would likely cause issues. Our tutorials page shows many ways to tie your headwrap, including styles that are not tied to any specific culture.
In sum, we welcome you to take in these considerations and engage with our products in a way that makes you comfortable. It is important to us to encourage you to wear them for bold self expression and hope you consider our many fabrics which are solid-colored or non-traditional patterns.
I am a man, can I wear a headwrap?
Short answer: yes. Fanm Djanm headwraps are made for everyone. As a black woman-owned business with a commitment to showing the beauty and elegance of black women, we understand the ideas of exclusivity surrounding the headwrap and our community but be it style, color, or gender expression — the headwrap knows no limits.
Can children wear your headwraps?
Though our headwraps can be adjusted to fit heads of all sizes, we do recommend bandanas as a better fit for especially small heads. Bandanas will help you avoid issues with slippage caused by excess fabric
