Compose 2023- Yearbook Lookbook
By Paola Mathe
Beautiful and incredible things happen when women collaborate. Last November, my friend Virginia Cumberbatch, co-founder of Rosa Rebellion, a production company for creative activism by and for women of color, invited Fanm Djanm to partner with them to close out their Compose retreat.
Compose is a storytelling incubator for women and nonbinary people of color to rest and create.
Rosa Rebellion is committed to amplifying the voices of women and nonbinary people of color by serving as a storytelling incubator.
Compose was created to offer women of color a space of rest, inspiration and connection to elevate our stories and creative activism. (Source: Rosa Rebellion)
Through this incredible partnership, I had the opportunity to photograph the mentors, founders, mentors and team at the Fanm Djanm storefront. I created a simple set inspired by an elevated yearbook. I felt so inspired to contribute to this amazing initiative. Every woman poured so much power into each other. It was an honor to wrap and photograph everyone.
