First, I want to express my deep appreciation for our book club community. The experience of meeting fellow enthusiasts in person and connecting with like-minded readers online has been incredibly fulfilling. My TBR (To Be Read) list has never been this packed, and I couldn't be more excited! I've always had a soft spot for the Romance Genre, and discovering Kennedy Ryan's work has been a delightful surprise. This August, we immersed ourselves in “Before I Let Go”. The narrative beautifully captures the journey of a divorced couple reigniting their connection two years after parting ways, set against the intricate backdrop of relationships that evolve throughout the tale. I was captivated by the story's depth and power from the very first read, and felt the same pull when I read it the second time. It's simply that compelling.
Grief is an intricate emotion, often elusive and beyond the realm of articulation. Kennedy Ryan does the unimaginable — finding those words for us. The way Ryan portrays grief is so raw and evocative; it feels like she's giving a voice to the silent screams of our hearts. Consider this poignant line from the book: “Grief is a grind, it is the work of breathing and waking and rising and moving through a world that feels emptier. A gaping hole has been torn into your existence and everyone around you just walks right past it, like it’s not even there, but all you can do is stand and stare.”
Such is the power of words when they're wielded by a masterful storyteller like Ryan. They not only resonate, but also provide solace and understanding. Reading “Before I Let Go” felt like discovering a treasure — it was my entry point into the magnificent world of Kennedy Ryan’s writing.
Post this read, I was unstoppable. I plunged into the Hoop Series and the Grip series (please read the content warnings before diving in). It was a literary feast! To give you a perspective: there are three books in each series, and I devoured them all within a mere month. That’s the allure of Ryan’s writing; once you start, there’s no turning back.
If you've yet to experience the magic of, “Before I Let Go” is a wonderful place to start. Dive in, immerse yourself in the emotions, and let the words wash over you. And if you're anything like me, you'll soon find yourself on a journey through all of her captivating tales.
